Description

The Old Bindery is set in the grounds of Whatley House quietly tucked away from the main residence and accessed through a private entrance shared only with the owner. This studio style holiday home is located just a short walk from the centre of Beaminster with a variety of independent shops, restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. It has been newly decorated with exposed beams and is ideal for couples looking for a peaceful, rural escape. There is plenty to see and do including Mapperton House and Gardens about 2 miles away, take a Llama for a walk, go on a wine estate tour or just take a walk in some of the best countryside the UK has to offer. The Old Bindery accepts one well behaved pet.

The accommodation at The Old Bindery comprises of a kitchenette with a two ring hob, small oven, toaster and kettle, enough for simple cooking but serious cooks should be aware. Luckily there are plenty of good restaurants in Beaminster itself and lots of choice if you want to get in the car. The bed/sitting room includes a double bed and two single chairs, small dining table for two, flat screen TV and Freesat channels. The en suite shower room has shower, toilet and basin.

Outside is a gravel seating area with bistro table and chairs and a garden bench. The owner is happy for guests to enjoy the garden through the adjacent gate. There is private parking on the gravel drive. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Area details

Beaminster

Beaminster is a small town in West Dorset which retains a village feel and is located at the head of the valley of the River Brit. The town is home to the Beaminster Festival, an annual event of music and art. This is usually a 9 day event held in late June and 2013 will see its 18th year. Recently, West Dorset has been voted the most popular area of outstanding natural beauty by the readers of National Country Walking Magazine. Now you can explore the area in the company of Llamas with guided Trekking, Rambling and Walking Tours with UK Llamas based just outside of Beaminster. Or try your hand at disc golf at Whitcombe Disc Golf Course, where the British Open Disc Championship has been held. Just think of playing golf but with a frisbee! Famous faces you may see in the town include Martin Clunes who has now been a resident of the area for many years.

Facilities

For eating out there are several choices. Most notable perhaps, is the Wild Garlic which is run by Mat Follas, the winner of BBC Masterchef a few years back. For a quicksnack why not drop into the Ann Day Gallery and Coffee Shop, miximg art with a good cup of tea and cake.
