Old Home Farm is a detached holiday home on the popular Rousdon Estate just 3 miles away from the seaside town of Lyme Regis. The Estate is a unique development built around a mansion house with cottages and converted farm buildings forming a small community. The estate is set in 350 acres of stunning parkland surrounded by mature trees with access to a private beach at Charlton Bay via a steep footpath. For keen walkers you will also have access to the Undercliff section of the South West Coast Path running from Lyme Regis to Axmouth. With Lyme Regis only 3 miles away you are very close to not only the golden sandy beach but a large variety of restaurants, cafes, pubs, tea rooms and shops. A great area for fossil hunting you can join a guided tour or perhaps skip that and go straight to the museum to marvel at other people's finds.
The accommodation at Old Home Farm comprises of an entrance hall leading to a well equipped kitchen with large gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge and dishwasher while a washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and additional fridge are in an adjoining utility area. The open plan lounge/diner has TV with DVD player and French windows to the garden while the dining area has table and chairs for six. There is a separate additional lounge area with sofa and TV and DVD player. A cloakroom with basin and toilet rounds off the ground floor. Up the stairs to the first floor where you will find three bedrooms. Bedroom one is a double with en suite shower room with basin and toilet. Bedroom two is a twin and bedroom three another double. The family bathroom has bath with shower over, basin and toilet.
Outside is an enclosed garden mostly laid to lawn with patio and decked area complete with furniture, chiminea and barbecue. Bikes can also be provided for guests to use. Off-road parking for one car with additional parking available nearby. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Lyme Regis, nicknamed 'The Pearl of Dorset' is the most westerly town in Dorset and lies on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The town is famed for its fossils which can be found on its beaches and cliffs. Lyme Regis has quite a history and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book. These days, areas of interest include the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium which displays local fish and marine life from the Jurassic Coast. The Town Mill dates back to 1340 and is fully restored to working order and still produces flour which can be purchased from its shop. Lyme Regis Museum houses a large collection of local memorabilia, historical items and exhibits explaining the local geological and palaeontological treasures. Set into the pavement, outside the museum, is an ornate example of Coade stone work, in the form of ammonites. The Dinosaurland Fossil Museum is also located in Lyme Regis in the former church where Mary Anning, famous fossil collector, dealer, and paleontologist was christened.
