Description

Broadstones is a single storey holiday cottage set in the Marshwood Vale in the hamlet of Bettiscombe. Surrounded by beautiful countryside there are many walks to explore right from your doorstep. There is a large garden with patio area and views across the countryside to distant rolling hills. You are still within an easy drive to access the World Heritage Jurassic Coast with Lyme Regis, Bridport and West Bay all close by. Shops are 2 and a half miles away with a pub and restaurant just 1 mile away.

The accommodation at Broadstones is all on the ground floor and comprises of a living room, a kitchen diner equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, range of accessories and utensils and dining table with seating for four. The conservatory offers another area to relax in and has double doors leading to the large garden as well as another dining table giving you more choices to dine with a view. There are 2 bedrooms arranged as a double and a twin and the bathroom has bath, basin and toilet.

Outside there is a large garden laid to lawn complete with furniture and a barbecue. There is ample parking available. Your bed linen is included in the price.

Area details

Thorncombe

Thorncombe lies in the north-west corner of Dorset bordering Devon and Somerset. It lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Industry in the area is mainly agriculture although in years past it has been a centre for wool trade and lace making. The most famous part of Thorncombe is the wood, listed on the Ancient Woodland Inventory, and has great habitat diversity with mature oak, sweet chestnut, beech and mixed woodland. The woodland gives way to Black Heath an area of birch and open areas of bracken and heath as well as a small pond. Dormice have been recently recorded and Song Thrush, Marsh Tit and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, all red listed birds of conservation concern, breed in the wood. On Black Heath it is possible to see Dartford Warblers, Yellow Hammers and Nightjars. There are also rare invertebrates associated with both the woodland and heathland.
