Blackbird Cottage is a semi-detached Grade II listed cottage located centrally in the village of Broadwindsor beside the village square. Although 18th century the interior is modern and smart while keeping the charm of the original building. Being centrally located means everything in the village is within an easy walk. Enjoy coffee and cake at the Craft Centre as well as the gift shop full of local crafts or an evening meal at the local pub, the White Lion. Blackbird cottage accepts two well behaved dogs which is lucky as the walking in and around Broadwindsor is great. There are many, pretty circular walks or go to nearby Pilsdon Pen, an Iron Age fort, and enjoy a walk with spectacular views. There is lots to explore nearby with many country houses and spectacular gardens but the whole Jurassic Coast is also within a short drive away.
The accommodation at Blackbird Cottage comprises of a hall leading to the sitting room with wood burning stove, TV with DVD player, and WiFi enabled throughout. There is a second area to relax in, the snug, with sofa and French windows leading outside. The kitchen/ utility area is equipped with range cooker with oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer as well as a range of accessories and utensils with an integrated dining area with stable doors to the garden. There are three bedrooms, two king size doubles and a bunk room. There is a bathroom with slipper bath, separate shower, basin and toilet and a shower room with basin and toilet.
Outside is a wonderful garden with a large lawned area, a summer house which doubles as a games room and a peaceful terrace complete with furniture and a barbecue. There is off road parking for one car with further parking available in a quiet road nearby. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Broadwindsor is a small village set in the beautiful countryside of West Dorset. It has been a popular area for a long time with evidence of occupation dation all the way back to 43 AD. The setting in the middle of the village is of lovely cottages with period houses and the village also features the Broadwindsor Craft and Design Centre, featuring local crafts. The village square is much-photographed, especially King Charles Cottage, the place where King Charles II stayed the night September 22/23 after his flight from the battle of Worcester.Read more
The Lewesdon and Pilsdon hills are local landmarks with Lewesdon deemed to be the highest in the county, but there is some good natured bantering as to whether or not Pilsdon is actually the highest hill. Lewesden hill is well worth a visit at Bluebell time.
Broadwindsor has a village shop and has one pub which serves food throughout the week. A short trip in the car will bring you to an array of many different options.Read less
